The Apollo

Springdale, Arkansas

In 1949, The Apollo Theater was constructed. Closed in 1987, it was deemed unsafe for occupancy. However, in 2017, it reopened to the public as a venue and event space. Core redesigned the facade to restore it to its historic glory.

Core Architects partnered with the Downtown Springdale Alliance to beauty Emma Avenue, reinstating its original charm. Through careful study of historical imagery and documentation, Core was able to 3-dimensionally model the buildings as they were built. This was compared against the buildings in their existing state, most of which had received renovations over the years and no longer resembled the original. A new design was proposed for each of 8 building facades studied - the designs were heavily influenced by photographs of an early Downtown Springdale. A quaint charm has returned to Emma Avenue, along with new businesses.

Of the 8 proposals, 6 have completed construction.
